Collecting Data
Site Sheperd is a powerful analytical tool to perform benchmarking, but we recognize that the results generated are only as good as the data behind it. For those new to benchmarking, it can be a daunting task to figure out where to pull this data from. Thankfully, there are a couple of ways to collect labor data.
Public Data Sources
The first option is public sources that allow you to pull data for free from a public website, such as ACS, BLS, NCES, etc. The Site Shepherd team has compiled a list of several labor data points with links to help kickstart your data gathering.
Private Data Sources
The second option is to pull the data from a private source, such as labor data platforms like Emsi, JobsEQ, etc. While public sources allow you to pull labor data for free, private sources offer a better user experience and a faster approach to collecting this data. Note that an added fee/subscription is required in addition to your Site Shepherd subscription to access these private platforms.
